How to AI your clinic: An introduction to the team

Hello and welcome to the AI my clinic Newsletter

My name is Maxime Rappaport, and I am a first-year family medicine resident physician at Northridge Hospital Medical Center.  I am super excited about primary care, preventative medicine and chronic disease management.  I am also a huge consumer of everything technology, and I have been very curious about how AI is going to change our clinical workflow.  I've teamed up with two of my fellow residents to take a deep look at the emerging trends in AI that promise to reduce clinical note burden, improve logistics and optimize billing in our clinical practice. If you stick around, I hope you get to know us and enjoy exploring tech along the way.

In the spirit of friendship with you, our reader, I'd like to tell you a little more about ourselves.  And I think there is no better way than by using ChatGPT to draw up portraits of ourselves based on our favorite hobbies. I'll start:

I'm Maxime Rappaport, PGY1. Im a new dad to a 10-month-old baby girl, a keeper of four fluffy chickens, and an avid watcher of NBA basketball.  Yes, I like the Warriors (Waaaaaaariorrrrss). I went to medical school at Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, so I also love the 76ers, Hoggies, and winning elections.  In medschool, I spent some time dabbling in Blockchain technology, making breedable generative art NFTs, which was a lot of fun. Now with AI, I'm excited to witness the next internet revolution.  Here is an incredibly better looking version of myself that AI has generated:

Here's my introduction to my classmate Raymond Phan, PGY1. Raymond is a beast; he was actually born at Northridge hospital and was delivered by a family medicine resident no less. Now he’s a PGY1 here, delivering babies on that same OB floor. Talk about full circle. Raymond went to school at the Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine where there was no shortage of hands-on clinical experience. He also has a natural gift for golf and an eye for the finer things like his favorite car, Porsche, or watch, Rolex. Here's another way better looking AI version:

And without further ado, here is my introduction to Chase Cho, PGY3.  Chase is our fearless leader, who has led both Raymond and I on our internal medicine blocks.  He is smooth, well versed, and very patient with his novice interns (thank you Chase).  Chase received training at the Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine in New Mexico where he fancies to retire one day.  Chase's hobbies include rebuilding vintage video game consoles, free diving and fermentation science.  He also loves spending time with his 2-year-old daughter, who likes to hide unicorn stickers on his back without him knowing.  Yes, yes to baby me, Raymond and his daughter... It is tough. Here is probably the most accurate AI generated portrait (aside from the fingers and stethoscope):

Now, heres our plan for the immediate future.

Chase is going to be writing on Ubie Health and their AI symptom checker that we can use to basically determine whether we should see a doctor.

I will be writing about Glass.Health, and their AI powered clinical decision support tool.

Raymond will be writing about Augmedix and their ambient AI dictation service.

We hope to make this newsletter for both consumers and developers of AI products. I hope to share my insights on how these technologies can be adopted into clinical workflow, and to share with healthcare providers the emerging technologies that can boost their productivity. If this vibes with you, please subscribe to on our weekly newsletter, and shoot us an email with your thoughts! I can't wait to make more friends.

Wishing you all a happy new year!

Best regards,

Maxime Rappaport, MD
